Kumu Hula

Kumu Kanoelani Galiza, born and raised in Hawai'i, established our halau in 1994 to share her passion and love for hula from Honolulu. With her kumu hula's blessing, she came to Tacoma, Washington, and began teaching, perpetuating the Hawaiian culture, language, and the true meaning of Aloha. Kumu Kanoelani Galiza and the halau have been affiliated with the Asia Pacific Cultural Center for over 25 years.

From our keiki learning their first steps, to our advanced dancers perfecting Hula Kahiko, Tahitian, Aparima, and Māori, every class is filled with energy, joy, and aloha. Our hālau is more than a place to dance—it’s a place to connect to culture, history, and each other. We see the spirit of aloha alive in every movement, every chant, and every smile. Being part of this journey with our students is truly a blessing, and we am honored to guide them in keeping the hula alive and thriving.
